Wellington City Council - $11m earmarked for Ngaio Gorge resilience
Wellington City Council has earmarked $11m over three years to strengthen Ngaio Gorge. The proposed funding includes $9m to secure the gorge's rock bluffs and $1.65m over the next five years to strengthen the retaining walls. Heavy rains in 2017 caused a series of landslides in Ngaio Gorge, two of which impacted the main road and forced road closures. To ensure public safety, the council has used AccuMM's technology to continuously monitor these sites using GPS.
